To all the Arizona readers – mark your calendars for the 2013 Labor and Employment Fall Seminar in Sedona, Arizona. We will be returning to the Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa on October 18-19, 2013 for a series of seminars, panel discussions and our annual award presentation honoring the Member of the Year for 2013.
Whether you are a plaintiffs’ attorney, defense attorney, in-house counsel, government attorney or solo practitioner, this is an event that can’t be missed. Our faculty are among the most engaging speakers and brightest legal minds in the nation.
We have the Honorable Mark W. Bennett, U.S. District Court Judge from the Northern District of Iowa, joining us to offer a candid look at what makes a great trial attorney. He also will be giving a presentation that could make any experienced litigator stop cold in their tracks: Dragons & Other Pitfalls: A Federal Judge Reveals Shocking Truths About Employment Trials. A rule of thumb for me personally is that anytime a federal judge is going to talk about dragons and shocking truths, I listen.
Jay Wang from Fox, Wang & Morgan will be updating the group as to the ever-evolving world of the Fair Labor Standards Act. We also have a stellar panel of attorneys giving the inside track on employment cases from the in-house perspective. Tarik Sultan will take on the immigration issues arising in the employment context, and there is even some ethics credit from the always-enlightening and entertaining Larry Cohen. Last, for those who are wondering whether they want to stay the night until Saturday, I might add that we have one of our favorites coming back again this year – Richard Seymour and Jeffery Wohl giving the EEOC update.
Troy Larkin and I are co-chairing the event, with CLE Committee Chair Tom Arn. If there is anywhere you must be in October 2013, this is it. It doesn’t hurt that Tlaquepaque, Cathedral Rock, and a few vortexes are nearby too.
